Here's a place where you can find quality music.
Doesn't have to be new, won't be bad. Can be any genre.
Yes, you can email me suggestions at
- soundslikesteve@gmail.com -
and if you write a description of why you like the track along with a link to audio of the song itself, I'll directly write what you had to say.
(within reason)

SoundsLike… Kanye West

Moving a bit slower than expected, but that’s alright… right?
Here’s the remake of SoundsLikeKanye… one of the more recently posted mixes.
It’s decently similar to the first version of the mix, but I took out the short skits previously used (felt it was unnecessary and lost the attention of some). The songs that got chopped deserved to be, and the ones replacing them (in my opinion) were foolishly overlooked (my bad).
Kanye West can definitely change his image over and over again, and some of his main criticisms are arrogance (Taylor Swift) and consistency. Not to say that (to all long time Kanye fans) he isn’t consistently good, but that his style jumps all over the place from album to album. To some, this is exactly why Yeezy is one of the greatest, but others (understandably) listen for the music, not artist… so naturally they won’t be huge fans of Kanye because of this diversity.
I stand with the first group. From being a producer**, to rapper, and yielding tremendous success in each, Kanye’s the real deal. He keeps modern music moving, and creates his own unique style no matter the genre or producer.
This is exactly why Kanye West had to be the focus for my next mix. He’s one bold artist.
I’m also thinking bout updating the 8tracks mixes where I see fit, and letting you know about any changes through here: “soundslikesteve.tumblr.com” What I’m saying is, these mixes should always serve as a “best of the best” (in terms of features) for each artist. So let’s say a hit featuring Kanye comes out tomorrow… I’ll give it a listen, compare to the current playlist, and see if it’s worthy… and if it is, there’s gonna be a new post informing you the mix changed.
Listen to them all, and download what you can.
Sorry they’re not all free, but I can’t break the law.
If you took the time to read this, lemme take the time to say, thank you.

**[SoundsLike… Kanye West Production?]
California - Wiz Khalifa
Photo Taken By: www.michaelstango.com
A taste of what to expect from Wiz Khalifa’s LP, Taylor Allerdice. This track’s vibe reminds me of Kush & OJ, proving Wiz can switch back to his old style despite the “pop-culture” Khalifa we’ve seen too much of recently (in my opinion).
Hopefully the rest of the tape keeps up with this one. In the meantime, hit play and relax while you wait…

Gone - Donnis
30 Minutes To New Orleans - Lil Wayne
Here’s a dope beat prod by Needlz, originally rapped over by Donnis, which skyrocketed as his first major single.
Later remixed by Weezy, most people familiar with recent hip-hop know this production in a heartbeat.
I always like to hear the differences between artists on the same beat cuz it makes the lyrics stand out even more.
As usual, play & download below.

SoundsLike… Eminem

Like I said, they’ll all be back soon. Here’s the second mix I’ve got for you… a major overhaul of the most popular project to date.
This takes some big steps away from the mainstream side of the last playlist, giving you a better picture (in my opinion) of Eminem’s career.
—- 17 tracks long —-
- 15 feat. Eminem-
— 2 by Eminem—
Slim Shady’s been turning heads for close to 20 years, working with artists from Notorious B.I.G. to B.o.B.
Scroll under this for every song on the mix, in order, and ready to download. They come straight from my library, so you’ll get the right version the first time.

SoundsLike… Drake
Waddup everyone. The one thing that’s been buggin me is my 8tracks account. Too inconsistent in my opinion. So here’s what I’m doing about it.
Starting today, every mix I make on 8tracks will start with “SoundsLike…” and consist of 17 tracks (always).
I’ve got a feeling this’ll be recognizable and hopefully promote an already solid following on the site (578 followers right now). To give you some background, the main rule when making mixes on 8tracks.com is a 2 song limit per artist.
So this mix, as you can see, is all about Drake. Yes, I’ve made a previous mix called “SoundsLikeDrake”. No, I was not happy with the original. Yes, I’m re-publishing every mix after some careful editing to make sure it’s the best it can be (in my opinion).
Now if you’re thinking, “Hold up… the rule is 2 tracks per artist! You can’t put 17 songs by Drake!”, think again. To my knowledge I’m the first with the idea of making artist-specific playlists on 8tracks… using 15 songs featuring Drake along with 2 by the man himself.
Below you’ll find each track on the playlist, in order, with the ability to play each from right here, or download and play through your iTunes or whatever. Every song is straight from my library, so you know it’ll be great quality without those crappy tags.
If you took the time to read this, lemme take this time to say, thank you.
